VOP’s Creative Excellence Takes Center Stage at SAC Convention

At the 2024 Society of Adventist Communicators (SAC) Convention, the Voice of Prophecy (VOP) won three design awards and the event’s top honor, the Award of Excellence, for the Focus on Daniel Bible Guides.
SAC is a Seventh-day Adventist organization focused on developing, educating, and recognizing professional Christian communicators. In late October, the society held its annual convention and awards ceremony in Chicago, Illinois. Leaders awarded one honorable mention and one winner in several classes, including five design categories. The best overall submission received the Award of Excellence.
VOP’s redesigned Focus on Daniel Bible Guides won the Print Design award and the Award of Excellence. The in-depth study set is composed of seven guides. Each is embellished with beautiful, detailed illustrations to help readers envision the powerful stories told in the book of Daniel, leading them closer to God and an understanding of His plan for the world.
Judged for its high-quality and easy-to-use layout, DiscoveryMountain.com won in Website Design. Discovery Mountain is VOP’s weekly Bible-based audio adventure series for kids. Its new website features all Discovery Mountain media—including the club-member-only shows—in one location. Users can now search for content that stars their favorite characters.
“There’s also a useful feature for those of us adults working with or caring for children: the content is now all tagged and searchable by topic,” explained Jean Boonstra, VOP associate speaker and the executive director of Discovery Mountain. “This means that we can find programming to minister to our child’s specific needs, such as grief or anxiety struggles.”
Discovery Mountain also won in Comprehensive Design for its International Pathfinder Camporee campaign branding system. At the recent Camporee in Gillette, Wyoming, Discovery Mountain constructed an immersive booth, orchestrated the Pathfinder Bible Study Challenge, and hosted the nightly broadcasts.
Boonstra expanded on the ministry’s involvement: “The livestream from our broadcast pavilion allowed viewers to feel like they were in Gillette, Wyoming, in person, and through the recorded programs, attendees can also relive the experience. More importantly, Pathfinders and their family members can continue to study and make decisions for Jesus at BibleStudyChallenge.com. Helping others choose to follow Jesus was a key reason we accepted the request to get involved at Camporee.”
VOP Editorial Assistant Amanda Blake also won an award at the recent convention for a news writing project she led as a Southern Adventist University student.
