VOP’s Inaugural Summit Elevates Evangelism and Invigorates Hundreds
Surrounded on three sides by snow-capped mountains, more than 300 pastors, lay leaders, and ministry Sponsors gathered this past November in Estes Park, Colorado, to fellowship, worship, and train together. They were attending the Voice of Prophecy’s (VOP) very first Summit Leadership Conference, an event created to boost local church evangelism, connect the ministry with its Sponsors, and spiritually recharge participants.
The Summit took place on November 7-10 at the YMCA of the Rockies, a beautiful retreat center next to Rocky Mountain National Park. On the second day, a winter storm blew through the area, blanketing the ground with snow—yet the attendees’ energetic spirit remained warm.
Each morning, about 70 individuals packed the conference’s designated prayer room to gather in Jesus’ name and raise praises and requests to heaven. There nearly wasn’t space for them all.Eager guests also filled training sessions taught by ministry leaders. Topics included how to preach an evangelistic series (taught by Speaker/Director Shawn Boonstra), build houses of prayer (Associate Director of Evangelism Tenisha Tavares-Kincaid), develop a successful Bible school (former Bible School Director Bill Payne), and host bridge events (Associate Speaker Alex Rodriguez). Many participants said they were shocked to discover just how comprehensive VOP’s suite of resources and training materials was.
Church leaders enjoyed exchanging stories and ideas with one another. They also connected with Sponsors (those who donate at least $1,500 to VOP annually), giving the faithful donors an opportunity to hear how the projects they funded were being used to win souls for Christ. Several people described the Summit as “reviving,” “refreshing,” and “invigorating.”
Of course, the weekend was planned with young people in mind, too. More than 30 kids attended the event’s Discovery Mountain Fall Camp, led by voice actors from the Bible-based audio series. Joletta Redd (the voice of Joyce Holt), Ms. Jean, George Swanson (George Simon), and Ruben Gomez (Jake Donovan) shared stories from the miracle-filled life of Elisha, encouraging their audience to not only believe in their awesome God, but to also take a leap for faith for Him. Some brave volunteers from the audience helped Gomez with a dramatic line-reading, and everyone made crafts and sang songs. At the end, several children responded to the camp’s message by coming up front to take a stand for Jesus.
VOP is planning to organize a second Summit Leadership Conference next year—this time with a bigger prayer room.
